Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje
Born in 1960 and married with seven children, Alhaji Adamu Maje was a student of the Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, from 1973 to 1976, and Government Secondary School, Danbatta from 1978 to 1979 for his secondary educator, after his primary education at the Abdukadir Primary School, Hadejia, Jigawa State.
For his higher education, the Emir of Hadejia enrolled at the School of Rural and Social Studies, Kano, between 1981 to 1982, and 1983 to 1985, and also attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna from 1995 to 1996; as well as Bayero University, Kano in 1998.
H.R.H., Alhaji Maje had his Primary School Certificate in 1973; West African School Certificate in 1979; and Certificate in Rural and Social Studies in 1982. He also holds a Diploma in Rural and Social Studies obtained in 1985; Advanced Diploma in Public Administration in 1996, crowning it all with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration in 1998.
After his schooling, and armed with academic credentials, the Emir of Hadejia first worked as a Social Welfare Officer between 1982 to 1985; Social Welfare Officer in charge of Hadejia from 1985 to 1988; and was a member of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Kano, from 1988 to 1991.
Alhaji Adamu Maje also worked in the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Jigawa, from 1991 to 1998.
He was the Community Development Officer in his Local Government Area, Executive Secretary, Pilgrims Welfare Board from 2000 to 2002, and had served in the Hadejia Emirate Council (Iyan Hadejia) from 1999 to 2000.
The fifth Chancellor of the University of Uyo is the sixteenth Emir of Hadejia, and Chairman, Jigawa State Council of Chiefs.
His hobbies include reading, horse-riding, basketball and travelling.

Sir Egbert Udo Udoma
Sir Egbert Udo Udoma (21 June 1917 – 2 February 1998) was a lawyer and justice of the Nigerian Supreme Court. He was Chief Justice of Uganda from 1963 to 1969. He spent 13 years as a judge on the Supreme Court of Nigeria and was chairman of the Constituent Assembly from 1977 to 1978. He was one of the founding fathers of Nigeria. Sir Egbert Udo Udoma was one of the first black Africans to earn a PhD in Law in 1944 from Oxford University. He was a devoted Methodist and a holder of Knight of John Wesley (KJW).
Life:
He was born in the Ibibio area of Akwa Ibom State and attended Methodist College, Uzuakoli. After completing his secondary education, he proceeded abroad to study at Trinity College, Dublin (TCD) with the support of his community and the Ibibio Union, an organization which he later led. At TCD, he served as President of the University Philosophical Society, the student debating society. He later earned a postgraduate degree at Oxford University. He returned to Nigeria to practise law in the mid-1940s, but became intrigued and moved by the nationalistic politics of the time. At the time, Nigeria was attracting returning emigrants who had left previously. He joined the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons early on, but left the party following a crisis in the former Eastern Region that saw the removal of Eyo Ita, an Ibeno man from office as the leader of the Eastern Region by Azikiwe. From 1953 to 1959, Udo Udoma was a member of the federal House of Representatives, under the platform of the United National Independence Party, then he was a leading proponent for the creation of a Calabar/Ogoja/Rivers state. However, his failure to succeed in the creation of an independent region or state in south-eastern Nigeria, and the triumph of the three major regions at a constitutional conference in 1958, led him to concede politics to the dominant parties. He spent four years as a high court judge before he was appointed Chief Justice in Uganda. He also belonged to the group that championed Nigerian independence from Britain and was one of the founding fathers of Nigeria. He died at the age of 80 on 2 February 1998.

He was the subject of two biographies: The Man: Sir Justice Udo Udoma by Dennis Udo-Inyang, and Law and Statesmanship: The Legacy of Sir Udo Udoma by Ekong Sampson. In 2008 the Estate of Sir Udo Udoma released The Eagle In Its Flight: Being The Memoir of the Hon. Sir Udo Udoma, CFR (Grace & Son). His oldest son Udoma Udo Udoma was a distinguished Senator of the fourth republic of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and is the incumbent Minister of Budget and Planning under the Buhari administration.

CFR (1917 – 1998), who was not just a guiding light to many, but also an astute scholar, erudite jurist and great legal-philosopher who made tremendous contributions to the development of law in the CommonWealth; and who became one of the founding fathers of Nigeria.
At UDO UDOMA CHAMBERS, we are united by a culture that is defined by the core-values of independence, freedom, and justice. These are further demonstrated through a firmwide commitment to helping our fellows establish a solid foundation for a career in law. And we celebrate the memory of a man who worked tirelessly and achieved so much in realizing the goals of social justice, human rights and the rule of law.
